About Charlie Parr
In the music of Charlie Parr, there is a sincere conviction and earnest drive to create. The Minnesota-born guitarist, songwriter, and interpreter of traditional music has released 19 albums over two decades and has been known to perform up to 275 shows a year. Parr is a folk troubadour in the truest sense: taking to the road between shows, writing and rewriting songs as he plays, fueled by a belief that music is eternal and cannot be claimed or adequately explained. The bluesman poet pulls closely from the sights and sounds around him, his lyrical craftsmanship built by his influences. The sounds from his working-class upbringing—including Folkways legends such as Lead Belly and Woody Guthrie—imbue Parr’s music with stylistic echoes of blues and folk icons of decades past. Parr sees himself merely as a continuer of a folk tradition: “I feel like I stand on a lot of big shoulders,” he said in an interview. “I hope that I’ve brought a little bit of myself to the music.”
About Kiernan
Kiernan is the project of Minneapolis-based musician Laura Kiernan (she/her). Drawing sound inspirations from the likes of Big Thief, Waxahatchee, and John Prine, her songwriting mixes folk with indie rock and a hint of country. Laura is joined by Nate LeBrun on drums, Maddie Thies on bass, and Jared Johnson on guitar. The band hopes their music nourishes your ears like a nice hunk of bread. It’s just like when you're feeding the pigeons: soft, silly, spacious, and best done with friends.
About Yonder
Yonder is an emerging Minneapolis-based Alt-Americana band with a heavy edge. Leading ladies Hattie Peach (violin, vocals) and Emma Jeanne (rhythm guitar, vocals) began experimenting as co-writers in their Duluth dorm room years ago. Peach’s heartfelt folk storytelling and Jeanne’s punk rock sensibilities harmoniously blend in their writing. Joined by Oliver Gerber (Lapdogs) on lead guitar, Dylan Hilliker (Greentop) on drums, and Calvin Carrison (Big Delicious) on bass, Yonder fuses influences from their previous local projects into a fresh, eclectic sound. They’re set to soon release their debut EP, Momento Mori.
